FALL 2016 RESOURCES
My Big City
Thematic Unit Resources
Each semester we offer a new thematic unit with a specific focus and language learning objectives. Themes add fun and help keep the children engaged and learning new vocabulary specific to the context of the theme. This semester, in the thematic unit “My Big City”, students will learn another language while having a blast “visiting” a different part of the city each class, such as the grocery store, the pet hospital, the post office, the school, the park, and much more! Through music, games and hands-on interactive activities, students will get a chance to practice using what they are learning for meaningful communication.
Through songs, games and interactive play we will introduce new concepts, vocabulary and language structures that promote meaningful communication, and oral expression. Our native-speaker instructors will use several research-based techniques to help children learn and retain the vocabulary and sentence structures learned, such as the Natural Approach, Total Physical Response (TPR), Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS), etc.
